Open Every Plan Sponsor Call With One Form 5500 Fact

Your next plan sponsor has already told you something about their plan. It is sitting in a public filing.

The Department of Labor’s Form 5500 search site provides the forms, schedules and attachments filers submit.

Large plans must attach a Schedule C, which the DOL 2022 Schedule C (Form 5500) page describes as listing service providers that received $5,000 or more in compensation in connection with the plan.

Schedule C is a large-plan attachment, so for other plans pick another fact from the filing.

The call opens with who you are and what you offer. That opener is easy to ignore.

Your pitch is not the problem. The first thirty seconds are.

Open with one fact from the sponsor’s own filing. Then stop and ask a question.

Example: “I was reading [Plan name]’s latest Form 5500. It lists [one fact: a service provider listed on Schedule C]. Is that still how the plan is set up today?”

Reading filings before every call takes time you do not have. RiXtrema’s 401k AI Agent does that research before you dial: plan data, prospect context, and a draft of the outreach built on both.

The agent prepares the fact. You ask the question and carry the conversation.

A question built on their numbers invites an answer. A script built on your services invites a voicemail.

One fact from their filing beats a page about your firm.
